National Governing Body
for FClass, Target and Match Rifle Shooting in Ireland
At the MNSCI on the 24 FEBUARY 2008.

The first National Rifle Association of Ireland registered F-Class shoot of 2008 got of to a tremendous start.
This shoot was well supported by both members of the NRAI and non members. This shoot was held at 600 yards with 2+20 to count.
The v-bull is now a standard 75mm 3 inch, half minute of angle, certainly a challenging target to shoot.
The conditions were overcast and cold with a tail wind moving between 8 and 4 o’clock, thankfully the rain held off for the match.
For the first time in a registered NRAI F-Class competition, competitors were required to work in the butts and do Range Officer on the firing point.
There was one emergency stop which was a test of the range officer on duty during the first match.
This test proved that the training which is been given to members of the NRAI by the MNSCI is proving very successful.
The first detail shot in arguably the better conditions and this was were the first in each category was decided.
C. Murphy won the open class with a 94.11 and in the F-TR event S. Walsh was the winner. The F-TR event was particularly well supported and bodes well for the future of this style of shooting. S. Walsh’s score is comparable with the open class and with some coaching he will be a challenge to any F-TR or open F-Class competitors here or abroad and will be one to watch. For many it was their first registered competition.
Another name to watch is A.Hartnett who had some difficulties with his scope but yet managed to bring in a very respectable score and it was his first time shooting this distance of 600 yards.
What was great about this event was the fun and enjoyment experience by all.
The NRAI would like to thank the MNSCI for providing such an excellent facility for us all to compete and shoot on.
We look forward now to the next match on the 30 march 2008 and we would hope that more will attend and please remember we are actively looking for men and women to take part in long range shooting.
Please remember that the squad for the world champtionships will be announced before the 1st of July 2008 and a coach will be announced shortly after.
So if you would like to be part of this squad or would just like to shoot at long range, please contact the F-Class committee of the NRAI on the website.
You will be made most welcome.
