National Governing Body
for FClass, Target and Match Rifle Shooting in Ireland
There will be a TARGET Rifle introductory, demonstration and have-a-go day from 10am on 5th April at the Midland National Shooting Ranges, Tullamore.
One of our own target rifle specialist will be available to answer questions on all aspects of target shooting including equipment, set up, wind reading, plotting and competitions. The NRAI are looking to take its target team around the world including South Africa next year with the eventual aim of competing in the individual World Championships and the Palma Trophy (the world championship for target teams) in Australia in 2011.
We will need a team of 16 shooters, 4 wind coaches as well as assorted others. If you are already a prone .22 shooter then this could be your opportunity to move up a gear and convert to something that requires great skill but has a real 'kick' and swaps 50 m for 300 to 1000 yrds.
If you are interested please contact us and book your place - 5th April 10am Midlands - the talk, advice, demonstration and even have-a-go - its all FREE !
Fullbore Target Rifle involves lying in a prone position, using a bolt action single shot 7.62 rifle with 'iron' aperture sights. The aim is to hit round bull' targets at distances from 300 to 1000 yards. A hugely challenging sport learning to shoot straight and reading the wind are essential skills and can take years to perfect.
Target rifle, primarily fired in the 7.62 mm (.308”) calibre at international level (5.56 mm is also used in some countries), usually at distances from 300 to 1000 yards or metric equivalents.
