F-Class Novice Shoot
(January 2012)
The Novice Shoot took place on 28th January on the Windmill 600 yard range at Tullamore. The shoot saw a very large contingent of hunters varminters and stalkers.
Common calibres were .223, .243. .270 and .308. Shooters were briefed on safety and taken to the zeroing range to establish their elevations zero’s, once paired off by calibres they were given two sighting shots and 10 scoring shots to count. The Irish F-Class international squad members were on hand to show how to plot and score and were very impressed with the standard of marksmanship displayed by the new blood.
Conditions started out well with ideal conditions but after an hour the home range tail wind’s showed up and shooting became more difficult, everyone coped very well with the changing conditions.
It is hoped that most of them will move across to the f-class development squad where club members can apply to avail of the pilot reloading scheme. This re-loaded ammunition is much superior to factory ammunition where hand-loaded ammunition is tuned to each rifles chamber. The standard of the shooters rifles and kit was first class. The NRAI plan to run more open day shoot in the near future.
Please check back on our site for dates. Special thanks are extended to Kevin and Kieran McEvoy who through their hard work made the open day possible. Well done Lads, check out the gallery for some pictures.
